I have been in Orlando for about 3 days now, but it feels like it has been 3 minutes.
1 thing I've noticed about Orlando so far is that Florida is FLAT...like really flat. Anyways... My parents dropped me off at the airport early Thursday morning, and praise God, my suitcase wasn't overweight (a huge miracle because I packed A LOT). When I got to Orlando Jill Johnson (our team's coordinator) and Kamise (one of the girls on my team) picked me up and we went to Starbucks as we waited for Julianne to arrive, so that we could pick her up from the airport.
Once we picked up Julianne, we ran some errands and grabbed lunch before heading to the apartment where we met Maja and moved in! We did some grocery shopping, picked up dinner, and went back to the apartment.
Friday was our first day at Cru Headquarters. We got a tour of the building and campus and it was absolutely beautiful. We also got to go on a tour of the Jesus Film which was so cool. We learned about how they take the Jesus film and translate it into different languages so that people all over the world can hear it and understand it in their own language. We also got to hear testimonies of people whose lives were changed because of the film.
We made dinner together for the first time last night. No smoke alarms were set off, so I would say we did pretty good. We had pasta and salad so it was nothing too complicated :)
So far our time together has been filled with so many laughs, and just getting to know each other. I have also just been so refreshed during my morning quiet times with the Lord and it has been so cool to hear from Him and be encouraged in my walk, and then to get to share that with the other girls. One of my favorite moments so far was at breakfast Friday morning when everyone was sharing what they learned in their quiet time with the Lord.
A couple of things you can pray for:
That the team continues to grow closer to the Lord
The team will continue to grow closer to each other and will be unified in Christ
Some of the girls still have some fundraising left, so pray that the Lord provides all that we need. (Any extra money donated to me goes to help them out...See below for the link)
Addison our leader will be joining us in about a week. Pray that she gets here safely.
Isaiah 42: 6-7
" I am the Lord; I have called you in righteousness; I will take you by the hand and keep you; I will give you as a covenant for the people, a light for the nations, to open the eyes that are blind, to bring out the prisoners from the dungeon, from the prison those who sit in darkness."
